Cefaly

Each session is programmed to last 20-minutes.

Cefaly is recommended to be used for one 20-minute session daily as a preventive measure.

If at any moment you feel the intensity is too strong for you, simply press the button to stabilize the intensity or you can even remove the device to stop the session.

Yes, by pressing and holding the button you can quickly ramp up to a desired intensity level. This can be repeated until the maximum intensity has been reached.

An electrode with a magnetic connection is used with the Cefaly. One electrode can be reused up to 20 sessions.

Before applying the electrode, the skin on the forehead should always be cleaned and degreased thoroughly with soap and water. As long as the electrode adheres well to the skin on the forehead, it can be used.

Once the session ends, the electrode should be stuck back onto its clear plastic backing sheet and stored in its pouch.

Do not leave the electrode unpackaged in a dry place. It will lose its hydration and will no longer function properly. A few drops of water from the tap on the electrode gel will rehydrate it and help prolong its use.

It takes approximately 180 minutes (3 hours) to fully charge the battery of the Cefaly. It is important that you fully charge the Cefaly before your first session.

When fully charged, the Cefaly will hold its charge approximately 30-days, when used once daily with the standard ramp up.

If the Cefaly emits a long beep when you press the button, this means the battery charge is too low and you must re-charge it for at least 5 minutes to be able to get one session.

The sensation produced by Cefaly is strange and unusual, but most people get used to it quickly after a few sessions. However some people are more sensitive and may find the sensation produced by the Cefaly painful. If this is the case for you, simply press the button during the session when the sensation becomes slightly uncomfortable to limit its intensity.

Only 1.25% of patients cannot stand the sensation produced by Cefaly and therefore are unable to carry out the treatment properly.

We recommend that you do not use the Cefaly in the following situations:

  • Subjects with implanted metallic or electronic device in the head
  • Subjects suffering from pain of unknown origin
  • Subjects who have a cardiac pacemaker or implanted or wearable defibrillator. This may cause interference with pacing, electric shock, or death

You should ask a doctor before using the Cefaly if you are, could be or could become pregnant.

Cefaly 2 VS Cefaly 1

No, the Cefaly 2 offers the same intensity ramp up and thus the preventive treatment is the same as the Cefaly 1. But, Cefaly 2 is different in that a patient can quickly ramp up their session to their desired level. This can be repeated until the maximum intensity has been reached.

No. The Cefaly 2 device has replaced the Cefaly 1. Any orders placed on or after July 18th, 2016 will receive the Cefaly 2. No new headband-like devices will be produced or shipped. Electrodes for the original Cefaly 1 will still be manufactured and available.

Cefaly 2

  • Compact, fits easily in pocket or purse
  • Device is magnetically connected to the electrode
  • Patient may ramp up intensity and/or pause a session as many times as desired until maximum intensity is reached
  • Powered by a rechargeable battery

Cefaly 1

  • Bulky, unable to fit in pocket
  • Headband is mechanically connected to the pin of the electrode
  • Patient may pause a session once
  • Powered by two AAA batteries of 1.5 V

No, you do not need a new prescription as long as your original prescription was sent to us.

No, the new electrodes will not work with the Cefaly 1. There are specific electrodes for each model; an electrode with a plastic pin for the Cefaly 1 and an electrode with a magnetic connection for the Cefaly 2.
