How long have you had migraines?
I first started getting migraines when I was 16 years old.
When do you usually get migraines?
Currently I get migraines when I get a bad sinus infection, sinusitis or with stress and muscle spasms. When I was younger the migraines were hormonal but I’m post-menopause now. I had horrible menstrual migraines growing up.
What have you tried pre-Cefaly?
Before Cefaly, I tried these things you put on your head for sinus issues that are air filled pumps. I’ve also done massages, acupressure, acupuncture, Chiropractic, CranioSacral work and more. I have tried Injections, neck warmers, drinking water to make sure I’m not dehydrated. I even have blackout blinds for when I need total darkness.
What does your migraine feel like?
My migraine is like somebody took an ice pick and a hammer and is hitting it against the right side of my head. I can’t touch my head or my ears hurt. I have pain behind the right eye through the jaw, through the neck, which in turn creates muscle spasms everywhere. They’re so intense and so painful.
How did you hear about Cefaly?
I heard about Cefaly through my father. He saw an article and thought it was interesting and sent it over to me. I immediately jumped on board. I must’ve been among the first using it in the U.S. I got it the first week in April.
What’s your Cefaly experience like?
I know the way to use Cefaly is 20 minutes a night. I don’t use it that way. I use it directly at the onset of a migraine. As soon as I feel it coming on, Cefaly goes on my head. No meds, just Cefaly. The most incredible experience I’ve ever had. It’s not proven to stop or relieve every single migraine, and it is not proven that you won’t have a migraine, but to be able to control the migraines is the best experience I’ve ever had. In fact, I was on a preventative medication and I stopped taking it before I got the Cefaly to get it out of my system so I could prove the Cefaly is working for me. I have taken a migraine pill twice since I got Cefaly. This thing just works for me. I still have the medication and I have to take it with me when I travel but Cefaly comes first. Cefaly goes with me onboard the plane while the meds travel beneath the plane. I’ve actually used it on the plane.
What made you want to share your story?
Cefaly depleted my migraines from 3-4 a week to one every few months. I don’t want to take medication anymore. I don’t want to be loopy. I want to be able to get out of the house and go somewhere!. My migraines are extremely debilitating and can last up to nine days. I tell everyone about Cefaly. When a migraineur finds relief they can’t stop talking about it. I’ve walked over to show my neighbors several times.
