How long have you had migraines?
I’ve had migraines again for about 10 years. I had them when I was younger and then they went away for a long time. They started again in my late 40s.
When do you usually get migraines?
I wake up in the morning with them often and sometimes I get them midday, there’s not really any rhyme or reason when they decide to pop up. I tried to figure out the triggers but I didn’t have any luck.
What have you tried pre-Cefaly?
I tried a diet program, acupuncture, herbs, and I eliminated caffeine, but nothing really worked. I’m on a preventive drug I’ve been taking for 7 years: proranolol I get 4-6 migraines a month so I wasn’t a candidate for neurotoxin injections. Now I take sumatriptan if I have a headache and can’t get rid of it and that works for me.
What does your migraine feel like?
I know now when a migraine is coming and if I were to let it go to see if it’ll subside with an over the counter drug and if that fails and it escalates I’d have to go to bed and I’d throw up and have a full blown pounding headache. It’s more often on the right side of my head.
How did you hear about Cefaly?
My neurologist told me about it.
What’s your Cefaly experience like?
It’s great! First month I probably had 3-4 headaches/migraines and the second month two headaches. Last month was my third month and I only had one headache where I had to take sumatriptan and now I’m into my fourth month. I still get some headaches but usually I can manage them with an over the counter medication. I don’t consider it a migraine if I can take an over the counter drug and it goes away. My goal was to reduce the medicine to twice a month and I’ve done that.
What made you want to share your story?
I think Cefaly is a great thing. I’ve had a lot of success and I’ve been reading a lot of the blogs on the website. I just thought I’d share that it’s also working for me.
