How long have you had migraines?
I’ve had migraines probably for about 20 years but they were only occasional and would come on with my cycle. About 6 years ago they became chronic.
When do you usually get migraines?
I don’t have any particular triggers but if I’m stressed or haven’t slept well I’m more likely to get a migraine.
What have you tried pre-Cefaly?
I’ve tried chiropractic care, acupuncture, biofeedback, physical therapy, neurotoxin injections, and eliminating gluten and corn. I’ve also tried every prescription possible from my neurologist.
What does your migraine feel like?
There are a couple different ones. One of them is sharp stabbing pain that’s like a blade coming through top of my head down below into my right eye. The other one feels like my brain is swollen or on fire. If I move or walk around it feels like the migraine is rolling around free in my head and banging against my skull a little bit.
How did you hear about Cefaly?
My neurologist told me about it.
What’s your Cefaly experience like?
It’s been great. Several years ago I used the Cefaly headband when it first came out and was mainly using it every day as a prophylactic use. My doctor suggested using it when I had headache so I started using that. The majority of time it would eliminate the headache or bring the pain level down. Recently I’ve switched to the DUAL and I use it everyday. It works so well when I feel a migraine coming on. I use the ACUTE setting and it works almost every single time. It’s definitely brought the pain level down. It hasn’t necessarily changed the frequency but it’s for sure lowered the intensity of the migraines.
What made you want to share your story?
It’s been one of the few items or medications that has really done anything; so much with migraines is preventing them so I love I can use this when I have a migraine. I can use it right away and it works right away. I have family and friends who have migraines and even though the cost can be prohibitive at times, it’s so worth it.
