How long have you had migraines?
I’ve had migraines since I was 13.
When do you usually get migraines?
The sun is a trigger. Overexertion like sun and heat are triggers. My menstrual cycle is a trigger.
What have you tried pre-Cefaly?
I’ve tried preventive like Topiramate. I’ve also done biofeedback, neurotoxin injections, acupuncture, massage, and many different drugs; just about everything that there is out there.
What does your migraine feel like?
It feels like an elephant is standing on my head. My whole body feels nauseous and it’s as if I’ve been hit by a truck. I also feel tired. My migraine is usually on one side of the head.
How did you hear about Cefaly?
I saw it in the back of a magazine. My doctor had never heard of it when I told her about it. Now she’s prescribing it to more and more people.
What’s your Cefaly experience like?
I’d say it’s helpful because I was able to stop the neurotoxin injections. I think the device allowed me to discontinue the expensive neurotoxin injections and if I keep up with it I have less frequent migraines. Both my daughters use the Cefaly as well. One of my daughters uses it daily and she says it has made a big difference with her and my other daughter uses it intermittently. We all agree it helps us relax and rest, which is really good when you have a migraine. It’s really good as a preventive. After a year I totally quit the neurotoxin injections and learned the Cefaly was doing all that good without any drugs.
What made you want to share your story?
I believe in Cefaly. All the medication make you feel sick too. The side effects of drugs are terrible and I think Cefaly really did help my migraines become less frequent and less severe. It doesn’t take them away all together but it helps me with the frequency and the intensity and it’s well worth it. I like that it’s a drug-free option migraine treatment; also because my daughters love it so much too.
