How long have you had migraines?
Since I was 11 years old.
When do you usually get migraines?
The weather is my biggest trigger. When there is drastic change in temperature or storms, I am guaranteed to feel bad. I am also sensitive to noise and smells, especially strong perfumes.
What have you tried pre-Cefaly?
I have tried every prescription medication available for acute care and preventative care. In 19 years, I have never found a preventative medication that has worked. I have had some success with acute relief, but after a few months I am no longer responsive to the medication and I have to try something new. I have also tried chiropractic care as well as medical massages. Neither have helped. I lead a healthy life by eating a balanced diet and staying active. There is nothing I can do differently regarding my lifestyle to improve my situation.
What does your migraine feel like?
My migraines often feel like I have a vice grip around my brain. They are usually on the right side of my brain. My right eye often droops during an attack. I also experience a lot of fatigue and nausea. My migraines have greatly impacted my life both personally and professionally. My migraines last for days at a time. It’s not uncommon to have one for a week without relief. This causes me to become dehydrated and have to seek help from the emergency room for fluids.
How did you hear about Cefaly?
I heard about Cefaly from my new neurologist. She had one in the office and let me try it on during the appointment. I was instantly sold and knew that Cefaly would be a game-changer in my life.
What’s your Cefaly experience like?
I wear my Cefaly every single day. I can’t wait to get home at the end of the work day and lay down with it. It’s exactly what my brain needs to relax and unwind. Is it perfect? No… but is it a way to cope with pain? YES! My coworkers have noticed that I am more active and able to contribute more at work. They even think my eyes are brighter and I’m more alert.
What made you want to share your story?
I want to share my story because I know that there are other people like me that are not living their best life because of this awful condition. I have missed out on a lot of time because I was stuck in my dark bedroom for days. I am confident that I will likely have migraines for the rest of my life, but having Cefaly offers much needed relief during my hours of desperation. I also love that Cefaly is medication-free, which means that there are no side effects. Cefaly is a financial investment, but it is worth every penny and more.
