First Name: Mary
Location: Wheaton, Maryland
Years with Migraines: 25+
How long have you had migraines?
More than 25-years.
When do you usually get migraines?
Previously I would have a headache every day, all day. The pain level ranged between a 5 and a ten rating on a pain scale of 0-10. Since I started taking one of the new CGRP-inhibitors and I was free and clear for 5-months but the last couple of weeks they’ve been coming back. I’ve been weaning off my medication so I don’t know if I’m tapering it down too quickly. I think if the pollen is bad, that seems to be a trigger. My migraines are always frontal. Lack of sleep stress, the weather, also contribute to my migraines.
What have you tried pre-Cefaly?
I’ve tried different medications, neurotoxin injections, CGRP-inhibitors, trigger-point injections in my neck and shoulders, massage, minerals/herbs, and exercise.
What does your migraine feel like?
When it’s bad it’s like a stabbing knife. Now with them coming back it’s more like a dull ache. I’ve never had that aura that other people get.
How did you hear about Cefaly?
My neurologist told me about it.
What’s your Cefaly experience like?
It’s been very good. I’ve had it for about 5-years. I find it extremely effective. Recently when I’ve had the headaches in the morning it’s extremely useful and often makes my migraine go away. Sometimes I use it six or seven times in a row.
What made you want to share your story?
I think being in the medical field and working at a teaching hospital I think it’s good to help people with their research. Also, I found it to be a very effective treatment. It’s been a lifesaver.
