Luke: Cefaly helps My Pain Calm Down

How long have you had migraines?
My migraines are going on 15 years now. They started after I was in a car accident where I was ejected from the vehicle.

When do you usually get migraines?
I have migraines all the time. I do have triggers that make them worse, like some foods. Dairy, grain products and gluten are triggers. I don’t have Celiac Disease but I do have a gluten sensitivity; corn and any byproducts of corn are very big ones as well. Other triggers include loud noises, very bright lights, and physical exertion.

What have you tried pre-Cefaly?
I’ve tried multiple types oral medications, infusions, neurotoxin injections in the back of my head, special diets, and different exercises. Actually, one of the biggest helps that complemented my experience with the Cefaly device was a series of eye exercises used to stimulate different parts of my brain – I learned those at a clinic in Texas.

What does your migraine feel like?
It kind of varies but typically my migraines are very sharp and cover my entire head; there are pockets that are worse than others. Sometimes I feel a lot of tightness and other times it’s a dull ache. Then there are times when it’s all of the above for the most part but it’s always more intense in pockets.

How did you hear about Cefaly?
My new neurologist recommended it. I told him what I’d tried with other doctors and explained that they didn’t know what else to do for me. Right a way he said ‘Let’s try the Cefaly device.’ I don’t respond well or at all to medication so he said try it for 30 to 60 days before I made a final decision on it.

What’s your Cefaly experience like?
I’ve been using Cefaly since end of March/early April of this year (2016). It’s awesome! I have headaches all the time but if I feel a spike coming on, or if it has spiked, I try to get it to calm down. Usually the Cefaly helps my pain calm down. Some days I even use it more than once now. It did take 30, probably closer 60 days, for it to work for me. I did see benefits along the way but it wasn’t instantaneous. I would notice things the next day – like the next day would be easier for me. Most of the time now though I see instantaneous results.

What made you want to share your story?
I have a blog that I started just to give me something to do as I was getting better. If someone sees it, I hope I can help them. I don’t enjoy writing and I was doing research on blogs and video blogs and thought ‘I guess I’ll give it to go.’ I much rather film a video than sit down and type up a blog post. I did a few videos one day and felt pretty good about it, thought I’d post it and maybe have a few friends and family members comment about it. Instead I posted my vlog and someone from Cefaly emailed me right away! I want the whole point of me doing a blog for it to be that I’m reaching someone. I want people to know that I like Cefaly and it s a tool I use and it’s a super cool that’s been super successful for me. I hope it could be that for them.
